On this steep hill once stood the 13th CE #ChurchoftheExaltationoftheHolyCross , later lost to fire. Tradition says #StAndrew the #Apostle raised a cross here and foretold divine grace. With turquoise domes, gilded iconostasis & 60+ oil paintings, it opened as a #Museum in 1968.

London’s famous #StPaulsCathedral sits upon Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the city. The Mother #Church of the Diocese & Seat of the Bishop of London, it was designed in the #Baroque style by #ChristopherWren to replace a Medieval Gothic #Cathedral destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666. Its dedication to 'Paul the Apostle' dates back to the 1st church on the site in AD 604.
