#YeOldeCheshireCheese is a #Medieval pub & one of London’s last 17th CE chophouses, serving traditional cuts of meat. Once a 13th CE #Carmelite monastery, the #FleetStreet site turned into a pub in 1538. Rebuilt in 1667 after the #GreatFireofLondon, this #GradeIIListed historic gem retains its original timber beam layout, to be one of the oldest & most famous pubs in the world.
Towering over #FleetStreet, #StBridesChurch has been a place of Christian worship for 1500 years. Due to its historic links to the print #Journalism & #Newspaper industries, #StBrides dedicated its ministry to all who work in the Media. A spiritual home to all in the #News, annual services & a Journalists’ Altar commemorate those who died or are in danger bringing us the truth.
#StBridesChurch, a #Baroque#ArchitecturalGem by #ChristopherWren was built in 1672 after the #GreatFireofLondon. Its elegant symmetry & tiered 69m spire is said to be the design inspiration for the wedding cake. Reconstructed after the WW2 #Blitz, the 7th CE crypt evidences Roman, Saxon & #MiddleAges history, reflecting London’s rich cultural heritage & architectural legacy.
