Bricklayer #TomSayers from the slums of #Brighton was a prize-fighting bare-knuckle #Boxer whose heroic reputation began when he challenged his tyrannical boss & won in spectacular style. Born 1826, he was 5'8/1.52m tall but often fought bigger men. Out of 16 fights he lost 1 to #NatLangham in 1853 & when he defeated #WilliamPerry in 1857 he was Heavyweight Champion of England.

Centred on a roundabout, the #SevenDials community in #Brighton is known for its majestic white-washed Georgian & Victorian villas, & a cool mix of independent cafes, shops, restaurants & pubs. Set back from the seafront, atop a hill with views of the #SouthDowns on the horizon, you’ll find an inner-city neighbourhood with a village feel.

Enjoyed by generations, the people’s palace floats upon an enchanted sea. Children play, families carouse, & couples kissed through two world wars and stormy seas, the rollercoaster thrills, dodgems and fresh sea air charging the hearts and minds of all who have walked upon her. #Poem #Pier #Brighton

Famous for the labyrinth of narrow, twisting alleyways filled with jewellers & tiny high-end antique shops, cafes, restaurants & bars, #TheLanes was originally a fishing settlement Brighthelmston. Founded in 1545 & developed during the 18th century, the sharp contrast of old & new creates a unique atmosphere & distinctive #Brighton charm. #VisitBrighton

The #Brighton Pavilion is a former #Royal seaside residence for George, Prince of Wales, who became Prince Regent in 1811, and King George IV in 1820. Built as a retreat in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in #India during the 19th Century, its appearance with its domes and minarets is a celebrated work of #Architecture by the Architect John Nash. #VisitBrighton
