#JamesClerkMaxwell was a Professor of Natural #Philosophy at #KingsCollegeLondon in the 1860’s. A Physicist & Mathematician, his equations provide a unified & complete description of electricity, magnetism & light, to form the foundation for modern electrical, electronic, & photonic technologies, central to the development of #QuantumMechanics & #Einstein’s #TheoryofRelativity.
#KCLSU took a bold step in 2005 when it registered as an independent charity to give students stronger representation. A year later, #KingsCollegeLondon became the 1st UK university to appoint students & non-students to the board of trustees. With elected Student Officers, Trustees & expert Lay Trustees, KCLSU set a new benchmark for student leadership & governance #KCLSUAction
#KCLSU opened its doors to women for the first time in 1915, at a time when the number of male students was falling due to #WW1. The #StudentUnion at #KingsCollegeLondon faced collapse. Women rose to the challenge & organised events, started societies & kept the Union alive. Their leadership transformed campus life & proved that leadership knows no gender #KCLSUAction
#StrandStories an initiative by #KingsCollege#London has funded the development of a demonstrator prototype that places #Heritage content, researched & curated by KCL students, into the #StrandAldwych area. Here is a screenshot of a map built into the demonstrator prototype, produced by Robert Morgan of Playlines.net under the King’s College Fellowship Program
