Founded by #PopeClementVIII in 1600 to educate Scottish catholic men, the Pontifical #ScotsCollege moved to this site in 1964. For 200 years it was directed by #Jesuit & Italian secular clergy but from 1800 the Rectors have come from within the secular clergy of Scotland. Seminarians are trained in #Philosophy & #Theology at the #Angelicum & #PontificalGeorgianUniversity #Rome

Deconsecrated in 1962, the former catholic #Church ‘St Andrew of the Scots’ was built in 1592 by #PopeClementVIII as a seminary for Scottish men into the priesthood & a shelter for Catholic Scots seeking asylum from religious persecution. Over the centuries, #ScotsCollege has trained priests for Scotland as a catholic education was until 1793 prohibited by law in their homeland
