The 13th CE #LadyChapel is in the East of #BristolCathedral. Built of red sandstone in an Early English style it stands out from the rest. Restored in the 19th CE, the #Reredos is 14th CE, but the vaulted #Nave was rebuilt by the #Architect #GeorgeEdmundStreet to follow #Gothic form, that respect the delicate proportions of the early work so it appears to be of the same era.

Founded in 1140, #BristolCathedral was originally an abbey dedicated to #StAugustine. After the dissolution of the monasteries it became the #Cathedral of the new Bristol Diocese of Bristol in 1542. It's 900 year story tracks the flow of power between people, who have left their mark. A sanctuary of peace, praise & prayer where Christians gather to worship God, all are welcome.
