One of Ireland’s premier #Contemporary #Art Galleries, the #OrmeauBaths in #Belfast curated exhibitions by prominent international artists. Its conversion to an #ArtGallery in 1995 restored the venue to the public, after which the operation of 4 main galleries was funded by the #ArtsCouncil of #NorthernIreland & #Belfast City Council until 2006.

Built 1888, when people did not have a kitchen, shower, bath or hot water, the #OrmeauBaths gave community access to 36 public baths & 2 swimming pools. Designed by #RobertWatt this red brick #Victorian Bath House was used by kids, families & workers to play, wash & swim for 100 yrs. before structural cracks & modernisation forced its closure & sale in 1990. #Belfast #Heritage
