Famed #UkrainianPoet #MykolaZerov was a gifted #LiteraryScholar #Critic #Translator & #Neoclassicist who defied #SovietRepression of #UkrainianCulture. Unjustly condemned in 1935 to serve 10 yrs at the #SolovkiPrisonCamp, he continued to write politics into his poetry & was executed in 1937. His legacy of scholarly work endures, & led to his #PosthumousRehabilitation in 1958.

Not born into #UkrainianCulture, #AllaHorska chose it. Daughter of the #SovietElite, she was an #Artist & #SovietDissident associated with the 1960s #UkrainianUnderground & #Sixtier movements, a generation who reawakened Ukrainian nationalism within the #SovietIntelligentsia. For this she was killed, aged 41. Her life: resistance in colour. Her death: #PoliticalAssassination
