Opened in 2008, #MaggiesWestLondon is a free support centre & sanctuary for people with #Cancer & their families. Next to #CharingCrossHospital in #WestLondon, and unlike traditional healthcare institutions, it requires no appointments & offers no clinical treatment. Instead, its purpose is to provide practical, emotional & social support in a non-medical setting.

#Maggies supports anyone affected by #Cancer—offering help with #EmotionalSupport #NutritionAdvice #MoneyWorries #WorkSupport & personal relationships. People come to join #SupportGroups, talk to specialists or simply sit quietly. As one visitor shared, “I walked in feeling lost, and always left stronger.” It's a space for support and for starting again.

Designed by #RogersStirkHarbourPartners, #Maggies draws on #RichardRogers concept of a heart nestled within the protective wrapping of four walls, with bright orange facades, soft interiors & a #KitchenTable. Surrounded by gardens, it features thoughtful lighting, a view of the sky & spaces to relax or talk, creating a deep connection between its interior & the nature outside.

#Maggies was born from #MaggieKeswickJencks’ belief that architecture & the environment can support the mind as much as medicine supports the body. One visitor shared, “Talking here changed my mind—from not going ahead to starting treatment.” The centre won the #StirlingPrize in 2009, proving that healing comes not only from medicine, but also from space, presence & dignity.

#LGBTQ+ refers to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & more. #QueerBritain is the UK’s 1st & only national #LGBTQ+ #Museum. Opened in 2022, it showcases #Queer histories & cultures through permanent & rotating exhibitions. A registered #Charity, the admission fee is based on a “pay what you can” model, but a £10 donation is suggested to support this independent space.

#QueerBritain invites everyone to engage in their #Exhibitions, #ArtistTalks, #PanelEvents & #WritingWorkshops. Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who run tours & events, exhibitions like #WeAreQueerBritain uses photos, objects & personal stories to narrate over a century of #QueerLife. It's storytelling through interactive, people-centred displays.

Marking 50 yrs since the 1st UK #Pride march in 1972, #QueerBritain opened in 2022. Organised by the #GayLiberationFront male homosexuality was at the time, only partly legal & queer lives remained marginalised by law, media & society. In response to decades of exclusion, the #Museum was founded to create a permanent space to raise visibility, promote & preserve #GayPride.

Winner of the 2022 #BestSmallMuseumProjectAward for its “bold attempt to celebrate #QueerHistory in all its forms”, #QueerBritain aims to reclaim, preserve & inspire their history & culture. Located in a repurposed Railway building within the thriving #KingsCrossCulturalDistrict, visitors describe it as a place where they feel “represented & seen”, a long-denied LGBTQ+ truth.
